I have loved cutting basswood with my Cricut Maker to make fun home decor signs. You can read my tips about cutting basswood and using the Knife Blade on this post HERE and also see another interchangeable sign I made HERE.
I love that popsicles scream summer! I know that’s all my kids ask for every day when it’s hot! 🙂
Supplies for Popsicle Summer Sign:
Cricut Maker
Cricut Knife Blade
Cricut StrongGrip Mat
Cricut Basswood
Cricut LightGrip Mat
Cricut Fine Tip Blade (comes with Maker)
White vinyl
Transfer Tape
Paint in assorted colors ( I used Plaid brand FolkArt paints in Wild Wasabi, Jade, Light Purple, Prairie Sunset, Plantation Rose & Moon Yellow
Paint brush
Glue dots or hot glue gun
Tape
Instructions:
Open the Design Space File found HERE.
You can readjust the popsicle size depending on how large of a sign you want to make. I made sign that was 15X6.
Load your Knife Blade into the machine, and slide your rollers to the right. Tape down your basswood to your StrongGrip mat.
Click on Make It, and cut out your project. After you cut out your basswood, switch to the fine tip blade and cut out your vinyl.
Paint your popsicle sticks with your paints.
Allow your paint to dry and then apply your vinyl.
Attach your finished popsicles to your sign using glue dots or your hot glue. Now you have a darling sign to decorate your home. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below!
Is this project only for the cricut maker? I have the cricut air 2
The Cricut Maker cuts wood, but the Cricut Air 2 does not. But you could always cut the popsicles out of something else like all vinyl!
Is this design still available on cricut design space?
Hi Ginger! It should still be there. I’ve had people comment on other designs I have shared and they had to update their Design Space. When Cricut updated to offline, all my links seem harder to get to.
Hello – can you make this on the Silhoutte Portrait?
I’m not familiar with that machine so I’m not sure. Sorry!
Even after updating, I am unable to locate this project in Design Space….can you please tell me what font is used? Thank you.
Ginger McCoy
Hi Ginger! Sorry you can’t open the project. Here’s a direct link I just copied for it: https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/5cf31ff07aa9ca05d70cd525
The font is DJ Juicy
Where did you get the wood frame?
I made it. I have a tutorial on how I make my frames here: https://www.everydayjenny.com/diy-farmhouse-style-wood-sign-cut-with-cricut-maker-knife-blade/
