This cute little heart tray is only $3 in the Target Dollar Spot. I filled it with felt flowers that I cut out using my Cricut Maker to make it the perfect Valentine’s Day decor!

I always find way too much stuff at the Target dollar spot. When I spotted this heart shaped tray, I just imagined it filled with felt flowers. I love how it turned out! I recently shared a post on my tips for making felt flowers HERE. Check out that post to read all my favorite tips about felt flowers.
Today, I’m sharing some other varieties of flowers I designed in Cricut Design Space and I am sharing the link with you! You can make these exact flowers with the file I have linked below. I also made video of the flower’s assembly on my facebook page, Everyday Jenny, if you want to see how I glued them together.
I’ve really gotten into faux florals lately, and I love the selection at my local JOANN’s store. I added some fake eucalyptus leaves to the felt flowers to add even more dimension.
Supplies for Felt Flower Heart Tray
Cricut Maker & Rotary Blade
Cricut Fabric Grip Mat
Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Eucalyptus leaves
Heart tray from the Target Dollar Spot, or a similar tray to glue the flowers
Assorted felt sheets; I used some from JOANNs and some from Benzie Design (online)
Felt balls 1 cm (also from Benzie Design)
Instructions for Felt Flowers:
Open the Design Space File found HERE.
Click on Make It. You’ll need to change your material size to 8 1/2 by 11 since that’s the size of your most felt sheets. You’ll also probably want to rearrange some of the mats by clicking on the shape and then clicking the three dots that appear. Click on move to another mat. I like to make my cuts closer together to save on felt.
Make sure to select “Felt, Acrylic Fabric” or “Felt, Wool Fabric” depending on your felt type. This will prompt you to insert the rotary blade.
Cut out each sheet of your petals.
Now that everything is cut out, it’s time for assembly.
Felt Bud Assembly:
Start with 3 petals and attach them with a dot of hot glue to the felt ball center.
Use additional glue to glue the backs of the petals behind one another to keep the shape below.
Next, lay out 4 petals for the last layer. Attach with hot glue. Repeat with each bud.
Felt Rose Assembly:
Roll one petal for the center and secure with hot glue. Take the next petal and wrap around the center and secure with hot glue, and the last petal and do the same.
Take the next petal layer and offset slightly from the center and glue each petal to the center in a clock wise pattern.
Continue with each layer until your rose is complete.
Felt Daisy Assembly:
Glue the felt ball to the center of the first layer. Glue each petal up to the center using a dot of glue in a clock wise motion, with each petal going behind the petal you just glued.
It should look like the picture below with the first layer glued. Now glue that to the center of the second layer and repeat the above steps.
Your finished daisy will look like the one below.
I don’t have pictures of the felt rose bud assembly, but it’s similar to the rose construction of rolling the center and glueing each petal around it.
Once you have assembled all your flowers, arrange them in your tray and then secure with hot glue.
Add the eucalyptus leaves to fill in any empty spaces. Now you’re done!
Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
Hi,
I was wondering how big are the felt balls in millimeters.
Thank you!
LOVE THIS!
Hi Cathryn! Thank you! And good question! The felt balls were 1 cm. I added it to the post as well. 🙂
These are super cute, however I just land on the design space homepage when I click on “Open the design space file here” option, it just takes me to the design space homepage. Keep in mind you are dealing with a rookie here- any help is appreciated.
Hi Wendy! Are you trying to open the design space file on your computer or the app? When I share my Design Space file links for some reason they will only open on a computer until you have saved them to your profile and then they will open on the app.
So beautiful, The design space file that comes up on my computer only has leaves in it. What is the name of the file, can I search for it.?
Hi! It should be fixed now so everything shows up! Let me know if it still doesn’t work for you 🙂
Pretty! I’m trying to download the files for the flowers. However, when I click on design space file here nothing comes up? I would love to be able to make these.
Thanks
Julie
Hi Julie! Are you trying from a computer? For some reason when I share design space links they have to be opened on a computer first. Then you can save it and open it on the app.
Yes, I am on a desktop. I just get a blank screen.
I just tried the link again, and it worked for me. Not sure why it’s not working on your end. This is what I opened: https://design.cricut.com/#/design/126159081
