This is one of my favorite drinks! Make the pineapple slush mixture ahead of time and freeze. Serve with lemon lime soda. Great for summer parties.
This drink is one of my all time favorites. It’s so good in the summertime especially. I can take a sip and close my eyes and feel like I’m on a nice vacation. Ha!
I received the recipe from one of my husband’s coworkers a long time ago. She said her mother was a caterer and it was one of their most requested recipes. I can see why because it’s so refreshing and delicious. This recipe makes a big batch so you will need a large container to freeze it in and a good amount of freezer space. But once you make the recipe, it will last a while and it’s easy to pull out from your freezer and serve.
Funny story. A few months before I got this recipe I attended a wedding reception and they served a similar drink there. I loved it so much I asked one of the family members for the recipe. They told me it was a family secret and they wouldn’t share it. I was kind of annoyed. One of my pet peeves is when people won’t share recipes! I understand if they use it for a business or something, but don’t bring delicious food or drinks to share with everyone and then not share the recipe. But it’s all okay because now I have this delicious drink recipe and I’m sharing it with you! I hope you enjoy it.
Pineapple Slush
6 cups water
3 cups sugar
In a medium size pot, bring mixture to a boil and stir until all sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes.
In a large tupperware container mix together the above mixture and:
1 can pineapple juice (46 fl oz)
1 can orange juice (46 fl oz)* (not orange juice concentrate)
1 cup lemon juice
Freeze overnight.
To serve:
Leave frozen mixture out to thaw for 1/2 hour. Scoop out slush with ice cream scoop and fill glasses with 2 scoops of pineapple slush and then pour lemon lime soda over the slush to fill the glass. . Serve and enjoy!
*There used to be orange juice in a can next to the pineapple juice in the non-fridgerated juice aisle in the grocery store. Now I just buy refrigerated orange juice and use the empty pineapple can to measure out the orange juice.
I also hate when people don’t share recipes! How rude! Lol
I make a similar recipe that includes 2 mashed bananas. When serving, I add just a splash of vodka along with gingerale. So yummy! Thanks for reminding me of this delicious recipe. 😀
