Tricycle BeforeI was given a Wagner paint sprayer in exchange for my post and honest review. All opinions are my own.

I love to upcycle furniture and garage sale finds. I have painted quite a bit of furniture by hand which can be very tedious and time consuming. One of my last projects was this cute Jenny Lind bed I got for my daughter’s room. I spent a long time hand painting all those spindles. How I wish I had known about the Wagner sprayer before I did that project.

Super quick and easy, great for a beginner sewer.Mommy and toddler matching dresses made from Walmart juniors dress for only $20. Tutorial on everydayjenny.com. Super quick and easy, great for a beginner sewer.I was so excited when I saw this cute floral midi dress at Walmart of all places. It got even better when I saw the price- only $9.88!  I bought one for myself and I have loved it. It’s so stretchy and comfortable! Then a few days ago I thought about having matching outfits with my little girl for Mother’s Day. I don’t think we have ever had matching outfits. I stopped by Walmart and picked up another one as I had decided I was going to make her a dress out of it. I was so nervous to do this project because I’m not a great seamstress, but then I saw a tutorial for making toddler play dresses from women’s shirts HERE. I realized I could do this a dress and so can you! You use the already existing hemlines of the neck and the sleeves, which makes this even faster and simpler. I timed myself and I did the whole thing in an hour and a half. So go grab a couple of these cute dresses and make yourself and daughter one! They are out of stock online, but I found mine in the Juniors section of the local Walmart.

Here are the dresses I chose. They also have a  blue floral one and a few other cute patterns.Do it Yourself (DIY) Quickest and Easiest Alter a Women's Dress into a Toddler Dress. Simple tutorial on everyday jenny.com

Seriously only $9.88. Total steal of a deal!

You are going to cut the front from the back of the dress, leaving the sleeves intact.Do it Yourself (DIY) Quickest and Easiest Alter a Women's Dress into a Toddler Dress. Simple tutorial on everydayjenny.comYou will now have two pieces- the front and the back. Put the back piece (with the sleeves) aside and fold the front piece in half with right sides together.Do it Yourself (DIY) Quickest and Easiest Alter a Women's Dress into a Toddler Dress. Simple tutorial on everydayjenny.comTaking a t-shirt that fits your toddler, turn it inside out and fold it in half as well. Line up the t-shirt on top of the dress with the necklines matching. You are going to use the t-shirt as a pattern to cut the dress. Carefully cut around the shirt on the top of the shoulder. You are not cutting out sleeves at this point. Make sure you give yourself extra room for a seam allowance. Once you cut around the arm hole shape, STOP! You are going to cut down to the bottom of the dress in an A-line dress shape. I measured approximately how long I would want the dress so I knew where to stop. DIY RUFFLE CURTAINS

DIY Ruffle Curtains from a twin sheet

When I found out I was having a little girl, I was so excited to finally do a girly nursery! I found this tutorial for ruffle curtains from a twin sheet, and figured I would give it a try.

A little background on my sewing experience. All my friends senior year in high school thought it would be awesome to take a sewing class that they were offering for the first time. Unfortunately, it was the same time as yearbook, and I really wanted to do yearbook. So I didn’t take that beginning sewing class and I still regret that decision! Yearbook is not worth missing out on sewing. If only I could have told that to my 17 year old self!  So besides watching my mom sew on a machine here and there, I had no sewing experience when I decided to try this curtains. In fact I had just gotten my sewing machine for Christmas (and if you are looking for a good, basic cheap machine I got this Brother machine from Walmart as a Black Friday deal).

The instructions on the tutorial I linked to are great. I worked on the curtains at night for a few hours at a time. My lines weren’t very straight, but I think this is a great project if you are first starting out. The ruffles overlap so you can’t see all my mistakes 🙂 The curtains look great in my little girl’s room, and the best part was that I made them myself for cheap!
