Cricut’s Infusible Ink is a really fun, new system to use. It allows you to make professional-quality transfers that become one with your material. It’s peel, flake and wrinkle-proof.

You use Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets or pens to make a design and then transfer the ink to your blank using heat from the EasyPress or a heat press. It’s a pretty neat process.

I’m excited because starting this month, the Infusible Ink system is now available at your local JOANN! I was also super excited to make my kids some custom trick-or-treat bags for Halloween. I let my kids choose their colors for their bags. My son loved the blue and green tiger pattern and my little girl loved the rainbow/mermaid patterns.

I also wanted to make some fun shirts they could wear this month to school. They also had fun looking through all the designs available in Design Space. (But remember you can always upload your own design in Cricut Design Space!)

Infusible Ink can be a little tricky and kind of fussy at first, but I love the end results.  Here are a few important tips before you start your project!

INFUSIBLE INK TIPS

-Treat it gently-
It’s easy to slightly rub the ink off the Infusible Ink transfer sheets with your hands. This can lead to a faded looking spot on your final design. Make sure your hands are clean and dry. Treat the sheets delicately when weeding them. Sometimes I have accidentally scratched off some of the ink when I’m not careful!

-Press only once-
You’ll want to slice and layer your design to avoid pressing it more than once with your press. I love using multiple colors, but if you do multiple presses it can lead to a faded design. Slicing your image and layering it together by hand allows you to press it only once and get a great design!

-Use a good heat press-
Because your Infusible Ink design is transferred by heat you need a good heat source like heat a press or EasyPress to transfer it. An iron usually doesn’t get hot enough to transfer your design.

Click on Make it and make sure to mirror your image!  Select Infusible Ink Transfer sheet as your material. Make sure your fine tip blade is loaded in the machine.

Infusible Ink Tip: I suggest doing a small test cut of a little circle to make sure your settings are working correctly. I found my machine cut the transfer sheet better when it was on the “more pressure” setting for the Infusible Ink transfer sheet.

Cut out all your sheets. Now it’s time to weed your design. Make sure you have dry, clean hands. Don’t try to rush this part! You want to make sure you are careful weeding out the pieces so you don’t scratch or lift your design.

After you have weeded all your pieces, the next step is to layer them together. Carefully place the inside of the words in their outline making sure to line them up as close as possible.

The next step is to prepare your Infusible Ink tote blank for transfer. Insert your EasyPress mat inside the tote. Place a piece of cardstock on top of the mat to protect it from any bleed through.

Carefully lint roll your tote where your Infusible Ink design will be applied. This will help avoid any blemishes in the final design.

Follow the step-by-step instructions for your EasyPress HERE from the Cricut Heat Guide. To summarize them, you will preheat your bag for 15 seconds, place your Infusible Ink design, cover it with butcher paper and press it on at 385 for 40 seconds.

I like to read through the instructions first before starting the application process. Even though I have used Infusible Ink for a few projects, I still like to read the instructions again to refresh myself on the steps.

Once you have pressed your Infusible Ink design on your tote, it’s all done and ready to be enjoyed! I love how the transfer sheet is left with hardly any color and it’s all on your tote!
