JOANN’s new line, ARTSMITH, has so many great supplies for all sorts of painting projects. I used some acrylic paints and canvas to create this abstract wall art.
This is a sponsored post brought to you by JOANN. All opinions are my own.
Do you love to paint? Or is it something you haven’t tried yet? I love all sorts of paint! I’ve taken watercolor and oil painting classes and in fact, I was originally an Art major at college. (I ended up getting a degree in Neuroscience, but I still kind of wish I had stuck with Art!)
When JOANN reached out to me and told me they had a new line of painting supplies coming out, I jumped at the chance to try them! I haven’t painted anything in a little while, so I thought I would try an abstract piece.
The new ARTSMITH line has all sorts of acrylic paints, gouache paint, watercolors, paint brushes, palettes, and canvases! I chose the acrylic paint because it’s one of the easier paints to work with.
Abstract art is great for a beginner or an expert painter. There are really no rules for abstract art, and mostly I would suggest just have fun with it! Pick some paint colors that you enjoy and then just start painting! I used a 20X20 canvas and pink, gray and gold acrylic paints.
One tip I have is to use a cup of water to wet your brush and help spread your paint. Of course, if you prefer the dry brush look, skip this step.
Abstract Wall Art Supplies
20X20 ARTSMITH Canvas
ARTSMITH Acrylic Paints
ARTSMITH Brushes (I love this variety pack so you can have all sorts of brush sizes)
Paint Palette
Cup of water
For this painting, I went with grey and pink paints, but choose whatever colors you love! You can go bright and bold, or soft and subtle, or a rainbow of colors!
Try different kinds of brushes and strokes so make your painting unique.
I loved the ARTSMITH paint and brushes. It was fun to create this piece. I plan to add a frame to it and hang it up in my house. Stay tuned!
