These DIY faux leather earrings are inspired by ones from Magnolia Market. You can make them with your Cricut and add foil iron-on in rose gold for the perfect stunning detail. I purchased the supplies for these earrings at my local JOANN store.
This is a sponsored post brought to you by JOANN. All opinions are my own.
I haven’t dabbled much in jewelry making, but after I made these earrings I want to make so many more! They are a super easy project to make with your Cricut machine. JOANN carries the Hildie & Jo line of jewelry making supplies. I picked up some of their earring hooks and jump rings. I also picked up a needle nose plier and a little ImpressArt hole punch. JOANN stores also have the exclusive Cricut Wisteria and Cricut Wisteria EasyPress online and in stores right now.

Instructions:
You can create any earring shape you would like in Cricut Design Space. Open a new project and click on Insert Image. Use the search bar to search for “tear drop” and “leaf”. You can really do any shape you want. If you prefer a basic shape, click on Shapes and insert one of those.
You can also open my Design Space file for these exact earrings——-> HERE.
Once you have your shapes selected, you will want to decide how you want your iron-on accents. I used the Slice and Weld tools in the Layer panel to slice different shapes for my earrings. (You can learn more about using those tools in this post.)
Once your design is finished, click on Make It. Make sure to mirror your second mat, because you will be cutting iron-on.
Select Faux Leather for your first mat and cut it out. Change your material to Foil Iron-on for your second mat and cut it out.
Use your Cricut weeding tools to carefully weed your iron-on.
Heat up your Cricut EasyPress. Remember to look online for the recommended settings. Temperatures vary depending on what type of base you are using under your EasyPress. For faux leather and foil iron-on with the EasyPress mat, the recommended temperature is 255 for 30 seconds. Once you press your iron-on, let it cool before removing the protective liner.
Now it’s time to insert your earring hooks. Gently fold the top of the earring in half. Use the ImpressArt hole punch to punch a hole through both sides of the leather. Using your needle nose pliers, open a jump ring and insert it through both holes. Put your earring hook on the top (make sure it’s facing the right way) and close the jump ring. Repeat with the other earrings. Now you are done! Enjoy your darling new earrings.

Thank you so much for the tutorial! They are gorgeous! Can the same foil technique be used on real leather?
Hi Crystal! I haven’t tried it myself, but my friend did with the Cricut brand real leather and it worked. It may depend on the type of real leather. But I think it should work.
Can I use my air 2 to cut faux leather? I would really love to try making those earrings
Yes! The Air 2 can cut faux leather 🙂
Hey Jenny! I found your site through your Cricut Community profile in Deign Space. I love these earrings and all of your other beautiful Projects! I admin a group that focuses on sharing projects through the community. We are looking for talented creators and I would really love if you joined us and shared your creations and tutorials. https://www.facebook.com/groups/CricutMakers
Do you know if you can use the adhesive foil instead of the iron on foil? Great tutorial, thank you!!!
Hi Heidi! I haven’t tried the adhesive foil on the faux leather, but I think it might work.
What size are the jump rings?
The jump rings I used were 4 mm.
Do you finish the backs of the earrings in any way. Most of them I have seen at craft shows or in local boutiques have been the same on both sides. My faux leather is white on the back.
I don’t finish the backs on mine. Each brand of faux leather is different so some have the same front and back. If you don’t like the backs you could always iron on a solid color to make them look more finished.
Which faux leather is double sided?
Hi Carol! I’m not sure which brands are double sided. Cricut brand is one sided only
Hi! I love these! However I’m finding that my faux leather keeps getting caught every time I try to use a regular fine tip blade. Do I need a deep cut blade? Or something else? Maybe it’s my mat? Thanks!
Hi Katie! I have always used the regular fine tip blade. Are you using Cricut brand faux leather? You could try the deep cut blade and see if that helps. I haven’t had issues with mine getting caught before though so I’m not quite sure what’s going on.
Tape the edges with painters tape so it doesn’t pull up the leather. Works so much better
I switched to strong grip mat and haven’t had problems since. And face down for some materials you cut.
Hi, great tutorial! I have not able to find the hole puncher you used. Where did you find yours? Also, can I use a regular Iron to iron on the foil?
Hi Jessica! I got the ImpressArt Hole punch at my local JOANN. It’s in the jewelry making section. Yes, you can use a regular iron for the foil.
Did you put anything over the faux leather before you pressed it?
I just have the protective sheet from the iron-on over the faux leather. It never hurts to use Cricut’s iron-on protective sheet though, or a piece of parchment paper.
Is there something you should put on the back of these to keep them more stiff
Hi Brandie! I don’t add anything to the back of mine. It might depend on what brand of faux leather you are using.
Hi… did you use the blade that came with your cricut? Im finding that my standard blade doesn’t always cut through my faux leather… even if i change the setting to “more”
Any advice is appreciated
Hi Jenn! I do use the regular fine tip blade with Cricut faux leather. If you are using a different brand of faux leather it might be thicker than the Cricut brand and then the deep cut blade would be a better option.
Should anything be applied to the back of the faux leather or is it fine as is for earrings?
I think it’s just personal choice. I don’t apply anything to the back. But different brands of faux leather have different looking backs.
How do I find your earrings patterns on design space? I clicked where you said click and they didn’t come up? Any suggestions? They are so cute!
Thanks
Trish
Hi Trish! When I share files they won’t open on the Cricut app but they will on a computer. Then you can save them to your profile and they should work on the app.
I’m not familiar with the different Cricut machines.. will all of them cut faux leather?
Hi Lisa! The Cricut Explore Air 2 and Cricut Maker both cut faux leather.
Wonderful Post!
the link to your Cricut file for these earrings no longer works. Any chance you could update that, I’d love to be able to make these ones. they are so beautiful!
thank you!
Hi! I just double checked the link to the earrings and it should be working!
Can you use a regular iron to seal the iron on vinyl? I don’t have an easy press.
Yes you can use a regular iron.
Hello,
I can’t get the file to open. It opens and then disappears. Do you have any advice? I have recently switched from Silhouette, and I am literally having nothing but trouble with Cricut software 🙁
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that! I have no idea why it would disappear. Have you tried Cricut’s help line? Maybe they could figure it out with you.
