DIY VINYL WALLPAPER WITH THE CRICUT MAKER 3

The Cricut Maker 3 can cut up to 12 feet matless with Smart Materials, so I decided to test it out and use it to make this vinyl wallpaper! I was able to cut all 12 feet in one go, which was pretty amazing. The Cricut Maker 3 will be available online at JOANN.com starting June 10th (TODAY!!) and in stores June 27th.

This is a sponsored post brought to you by JOANN. All opinions are my own.

DIY Vinyl Wallpaper with the Cricut Maker 3 and Smart Materials

We refinished our downstairs bathroom about a year ago and I’ve slowing been adding some finishing touches. I thought some vinyl wall paper would be a nice addition.

I love using my Cricut machine for home projects. For example, stenciling my deck (check out that post HERE), organizing my pantry with custom labels HERE, and making fun home decor projects like this pillow HERE or this seasonal wood home sign HERE.  This was probably the largest project I have attempted though since I had to cut out so much material!

Here’s a before of the bathroom.

Bathroom Before

Not only can you cut matless and up to 12 feet with Smart Materials and the Cricut Maker 3, but it also cuts up to 2 times faster which was really nice since I had so much to cut out.

Weeding Tool
Scraper
Cricut Transfer Tape

Preparation:

Measure your wall where you would like to add your vinyl. Remember you can cut up to 12 feet long, but only 11.7 inches wide. My wall was 47 inches wide, so I made my vinyl design 47 inches wide in Design Space.

Clean your wall with rubbing alcohol and a damp cloth. Preparing the wall helps the vinyl to adhere better.

Instructions:

Make your own design in Cricut Design Space by choosing one of the many patterns in Design Space, or uploading your own images.  To use the same design I did click HERE.

Click on Make It, and then select without a mat since you will be using Smart Vinyl. Load your vinyl into the machine. Select your material and press the triangle button (this used to a be a “C” but has been changed). The machine will measure your material to make sure you have enough and then cut it out.

After the machine is done cutting, unload your vinyl, and weed the excess vinyl using your weeding tool

Apply transfer tape. I did mine in larger sections, but you may find it helpful to do smaller sections since it can be a little tricky to transfer larger pieces.

Apply the vinyl to the wall.  Repeat until you’re finished!
