Learn how to make paper rosettes with your Cricut Maker and Scoring Wheel! The Scoring Wheel makes deeper score lines, making rosettes much easier to make. I used some rosettes to create this Valentine’s Day wreath.

I love paper rosettes for party backdrops, but when I found these fun heart rosettes in Cricut Design Space I wanted to use it for a Valentine’s Day wreath. There are lots of different rosette options, from small to large, simple to intricate, already in Design Space. I’ve also included the link below to the Design Space file I used to create this wreath, if you want to use the exact same one.
I used some beautiful, but thick glitter cardstock for my wreath. This is where the Cricut Maker and the Scoring Wheel and Double Scoring Wheel tools make all the difference. The Double Scoring Wheel makes two deep lines that are great for thicker paper like the glitter cardstock. The Cricut Maker has 10X more pressure than the Cricut Explore family of machines, and so it’s able to make better score lines than just the scoring stylus alone.
It’s important to note, that you should place your glitter paper, “pretty” side down when you use the scoring wheel. I didn’t realize this until after I had done my rosettes, and some of the lines weren’t as deep as I would have liked. So don’t make the same mistake as me!
Paper Rosette Tutorial
Supplies:
Cricut Maker
Cricut LightGrip Mat
Cricut Double Scoring Wheel
Cricut Shimmer Paper in Pink
Cricut Glitter Paper in Red & Pink
Hot glue gun & Glue
Permanent Adhesive tape
Hoop Wreath 14 inches
Assorted ribbons
Instructions:
Open the Design Space file found HERE, or use your own rosette design. Click on “Make It”. Select “Shimmer Paper” or “Glitter Cardstock” depending on which one you are cutting. Design Space will prompt you to insert your Double Scoring Wheel. Make sure to place your glitter paper, “pretty” side down on your mat.
After the machine has scored the lines, it will ask you to change out your tool to the fine tip blade to cut out the rosettes.
Cut out and score all your rosettes’ pieces and centers.
Carefully fold along the score lines of each piece to create a section of the paper rosette.
Attach each rosette section together using permanent adhesive or hot glue on the little tabs on each end.
You will end up with a long strip of folded paper. Attach the ends together to make a circle and push it down in the center to make it flat.
Bring the center of the rosette in and hold in place with your hand. Secure with hot glue. You can make the rosette smaller or larger depending on how tightly you glue it together at this point. If you want a larger rosette, leave it more open in the center.
Use some more hot glue to secure the center heart into place. Make sure to hold for a little bit to make sure it’s glued on well.
Wrap your ribbon around your hoop wreath frame (Or leave it as is; this step is optional.) Use hot glue to secure your rosettes to the wreath frame.
I love the look of the shimmer paper and glitter paper! It’s so sparkly!
Cut various lengths of ribbon and hot glue to the back of your wreath. You can see I added a little piece of paper to the back of each of my paper rosettes to make them a little more sturdy in the middle.
Now your wreath is finished! If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below! I hope you have as much fun making rosettes with your Cricut Maker as I did!
